Using RSS Feeds

After learning about RSS feeds and trying some out this past week, it looks like it is the easy way to have information that you are interested in come to you rather than you having to spend time every day searching for anything new. The internet is so massive that it can become overwhelming. RSS feeds help tame it down. It will definitely be a time saver and will help me stay up with the latest information and news about topics that are relevant to me. No one usually has enough time to spend surfing the internet each day trying to keep up with the latest. RSS will allow me to skim through much more material in a lot less time.

RSS feeds will also save me time with classroom management. If my students are blogging for a project, the feed will let me know when to go out and check their blog rather than have to look at everyone’s blogs every day. This also works in the opposite direction if I have a blog as a teacher which they as students need to be checking. RSS feeds can also be used by the students in research projects or as a supplement to a unit of study or a novel. As teachers, we need to learn how to collect those RSS feeds which will help us stay informed and improve our teaching along with teaching our students how to do the same.

Mindy, you hit on one of my favorite things about RSS - I dont' have to search the whole internet for sites other people already think are worth while.
